Solar Class is Here Now!
We've tried to build a site that gives you all the information you need to make a smart decision about going solar, but we know that it's a lot to take in. That's why we developed our classes, to explain everything in detail, and to be available when you want it.

If you prefer an in person event, and have a neighborhood or community group, HOA, Condo, or other audience, please consider providing a location or hosting a solarware party yourself. With hands on demonstrations and the opportunity to ask any questions you have about specifics of your own home and usage, you'll find out all you need to know in a relaxed setting. It's a great way to get your neighbors together to discuss our group discounts. Of course, you may be more comfortable where you are right now, so just scroll down and click.

Live on the Web
We all have busy schedules these days, and as much as we'd like to meet you in person, we think you'll appreciate being able to attend our class without moving from your screen.   We've divided the class into short segments so that you can pick and choose what you'd like to learn about without having to watch everything. You can also repeat segments until they really make sense!

Solar BasicsThis is an overview of solar systems, their components and how they work.
InsolationThis section covers the science of Insolation (the amount of solar radiation shining down on us) and how the shape and pitch of your roof affect the amount of insolation.
All About RoofsThis section talks about various types of roofs and whether they are candidates for solar installations.
Inversion and OutputThis section covers inversion (converting the sun's energy, which is in the form of AC current, to a form we can use, DC) and compares different types of inverters, as well as covers panel ratings and loss factors.
Rates and UsageAs its name indicates, this section covers PG&E baseline rate areas and PG&E's tiered rate structure and explains how to get your energy usage history.
Rebates and Tax CreditsHere you will find detailed information on government rebates and tax credits, as well as gain an understanding of the price per kilowatt of solar.
Tiered PaybackA cost analysis using PG&E's tiered payback rates
Time of Use PaybackA cost analysis using PG&E's time of use rates
InstallationThis will give you the step-by-step lowdown on installation

San Francisco and Berkeley Solar News
Leading the nation in promoting local power production, San Francisco and Berkeley have initiated major rebate and financing programs for their residents.

SF Go Solar is now in effect! The program rebates you $4,000 for using qualified contractors
(like us), and provides an additional $5,000 incentive for below median-income
purchasers (and below median-income in San Francisco is more than you might think).  Read the program
FAQs for complete details.

Meanwhile, Berkeley's FIRST program is up and running, pioneering community based financing for solar. The pilot program will allow 40 residents to add their solar array cost to their property tax bill, thus shifting cost away from the individual and on to the house itself. This type of financing is about to spread nationwide, and recent changes to the tax code allow homeowners to take advantage of the new 30% federal tax credit, too!
